Frequently Unanswered Questions
A reply to Richard Behrens about the presence of Buddhist philosophy in the first two albums. Paul Wiggin and myself were already quite deeply immersed in Buddhism and Eastern thinking before we ever took up music. I was very interested in Tibetan Buddhism and Paul was into Zen Buddhism. To actually say that we were Buddhists could be going a bit too far. My interest in it has lapsed over the last 15 years, as for Paul, I don’t know if he still studies it because I rarely see him and when I do we don’t really talk about that.
The cover photo for From the Hip was taken in the Lake District by Peter Saville and his assistant Trevor Key. Saville had this idea about colour coding which represented letters and he painted the poles and positioned them so that they would read From the Hip.
The bands name was suggested by our original roadie/driver Eddie Smith. He had recently been sectioned as had our guitarist Paul so it seemed appropriate
It became more appropriate as time went on, FACTORY had 3 bands on the roster already
