It was a cold December morning which saw us take to the van for the 500 mile drive to Brussels. But after last months trip to Nottingham we were expecting this so had packed plenty of warm clothes. So it was a cherry and warm Section 25 who arrived early in Manchester to pick up Crispy Ambulance.

Onward then to the next stop at Watford Gap where we pick up Kevin Hewick. After many hours and many rememberred tales later we arrive in Calais for a quick stop over in one of the small hotels that seem to be the only places ever open in the evenings in Calais. Luckily for us the delicious Noel beer in the Hotel bar ran out after we'd had two pints each as it was not only delicious but rather strong (big day tomorrow people !)

Another long drive later though and there we were meeting Fred and Martin Moscrop in a service station ready for the last leg to La Raffinerie. Time to get busy setting up, soundchecking and then make some time to have a look round the exhibitions (which even featured an old Section 25 set list).

After sterling perfomances from Kevin Hewick, Crispy Ambulance and The Names it's our turn to perform. As usual the curse of Belgium strikes again as we make a slight cock up of our first song (as we did at Le Botanique) but we recover well and the crowd don't seem to mind. But after this hiccough it's all systems go as an appreciative crowd spur us on to produce one of our best live performances to date with the undoubted highlight for most people being Peter Hook joining us on stage for a version of New Orders "Temptation".

For anyone wondering why, despite the loud calls, we didn't come out for an encore just ask yourself. Could we have topped that ?
